Our AKC Silver Labs
We are proud owners of two AKC registered Silver Labrador Retrievers, also known as Silver Labs for short. Our Sire is named Thunder and our Dam is named LuLu. Both are great pets, see them below and on our Sire and Dam pages for more pictures of each.
We live in the Shenandoah Valley area of the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia, a few miles outside of Shepherdstown, WV in Jefferson county where we have a Christmas Tree Farm (Choose and Cut), raise a small herd of Black and Red Angus cows and now have a wonderful pair of Silver Labs.
We are not full time farmers and are not a dog Kennel but love our dogs and the color of the dilute “Silver” Labs so much that we decided to have a litter with our pair to help spread the love and continue to establish the dilute “breed” of Silver.
Silver labs are actually Chocolate Labrador Retrievers that have a special dilute gene which makes their coat a lighter, silvery shade of Chocolate. Within the Labrador Retrievers breed, AKC recognizes Chocolate, Black and Yellow Labs. The dilute color of the Chocolate is Silver, the Black is Charcoal and the Yellow is Champagne. AKC registrations will list the primary heritage of Chocolate, Black and Yellow for all of the dilute gene carrying dogs.
Thunder
Our majestic male Thunder was born on 1/27/2018. He is playful, energetic and very athletic. And not to forget, handsome! His father, Smokey Joe (Silver), was a true alpha male within the Silver Lab community and hailed from WV Silver Mountain Labradors of Exchange, WV. His mom, Lovely Lily (Champagne), originated from Silver Spoon Kennel of Burnsville, NC and is now owned by WV Silver Mountain Labradors. LuLu
Our wonderful female LuLu was born on 4/29/2016. She is gentle, sweet, and loving. Oh and beautiful! Her father, Dragon, is a handsome, playful sire who loves to go hunting. Her mom, Nighthawk, is pretty, nurturing dam who was the perfect mother. Both her parents were Silver Labs and are owned by Silver Dragon Labs of Mount Jackson, VA, from a family farm, not a kennel, very similar to our situation.
